Lt. Governor Donna Hill and James Hill

After retiring from 3M Company in St. Paul, Minnesota, Lieutenant Governor Donna Hill and her husband James moved to Oceanside, California in 1997. Donna had worked at 3M for 35 years in Supervisory and Customer Service Positions. James worked in different Management Positions in Information Systems. When they moved to California, James worked in Management at Ceridian Tax Service in Orange County. Donna found herself needing something to keep herself busy and began volunteering at Brother Bennos Thrift Shop in Oceanside. In 1998, Donna became President of Oceanside Charities, Inc. which runs the Oceanside Christmas Bureau and the Undercover Elves program. She continues in that position today.

During the Christmas Season, Kathy Meyers from the Kiwanis Club of Oceanside came to help wrap gifts at the Christmas Bureau. She talked to Donna about joining Kiwanis but the time was not right. After several more attempts on Kathy?s part, Donna finally joined the Kiwanis Club in 2001.

Since joining the Kiwanis Club of Oceanside, Donna has held the office of Secretary for two years and also President for two years.  She was the Division Secretary to Lt. Governor Joe Deggendorf, Jr. She was a dual member and secretary for Club 100 for one year.

Among her activities, Donna participates in meetings with the Army/Navy Academy Key Club, knits baby caps, makes trauma dolls, works with the American Cancer Society?s Relay for Life in Oceanside, helped decorate a Rose Float and introduced the club to Stand Up for Kids in Oceanside. Stand Up for Kids is an organization that provides meals and services to homeless teens. The club now provides a monthly meal for the teens. Probably the two most important projects for Donna are working with the young military families aboard Camp Pendleton and Stand Up for Kids.

James recently became an Honorary Member of the Kiwanis Club of Oceanside and has always been very supportive of Donna?s participation in Kiwanis activities.
